I just want to say....THANKS. I'm greatly appreciative of hard work you
guys are putting in on the sparc port....for no money. I have to say I
would gladly pay for SuSE Sparc, if it would mean that more SuSE
employees could spend time on the product to try to bring it to the
polish that the x86 port enjoys.
As for your comment that sparc32 support will go away....PLEASE say it
ain't so. I can't afford the newer hardware, and have quite a good
investment in older 32bit sparcs....and they do they job every bit as
good as newer hardware would do for me for their usage. At the very
least maybe the source could be maintained for the 32-bit compatibility
and let us spend our computing time to compile it. Or maybe we can do a
community approach to maintaining the 32bit distribution. I've got 6
sparc32 machines of varying heritage (my favorite is a dual processor
sparc 20 with upgraded drives and Ross processors). I'd hate to see
myself trying to patch along an old 7.3 setup for the next 5 years. ;-)
As for support on the list...I haven't really found support
lacking...there are plenty of people outside SuSE on this list able and
willing to answer questions and give a hand...this list is a great
resource. Of course it doesn't hurt to have some SuSE input
occasionally.
Thanks
Rick Thompson
