Ok, I'll use this message as a vehicle for my comments. For the
    hardware part, I use
      1. SuSE 7.0 on a SparcStation 5 (32 bit);
      2. SuSE 7.3 on an Ultra10 (64 bit, kernel 2.4.14(+)).

Both systems are pretty standard except that I boot both of them from
external SCSI disks (on the U10 using an adaptor card).

I upgrade or add individual products to the S5 as desired (such as
XF86 4.2.0), but I have not touched the base system because in my
environment it has been completely stable.

The U10 right now is completely stable, although I did rebuild the
kernel for Solaris emulation. I do intend to keep it current.

I am interested in continuing 32-bit support, however, because I
would like at some point to get a multiprocessor S20 to look at the
reported kernel problems in that environment. I just haven't done it
    yet.

In any event, I am most appreciative of the work the SuSE people have
been doing with the Sparc/Linux releases. I use them, and they work
fine for me. I prefer using Sparc systems to others, I prefer Linux
to Solaris (I use both), and from my perspective SuSE (both as a
Linux version and as a Linux vendor) have been superior to any of
    the alternatives.

    Regards,
    Ferris
