    Hello again,

Thanks to all for your prompt and helpful replies!

This is what I've gleaned, even though I was my clear-as-mud self.
I have done the stop A thing and probed everything I could, which is only the
two drives I have installed internally (and cdrom). The machine locks before
even getting that far if I have the external gizmo I made, plugged into the
SCSI port in the back of the box. So......I'm making the assumption that I
am not so clever in using the scsi (sca) adapter from another junker box to
make an external drive unit. From what you all have said, it has the drive
ID's hardwired. Therefore, I have duplicate ID's (0, 3) with no way to change
them. If this is correct, no response is necessary....I don't want to be a
bother. ;-) I was really hoping to avoid eBay. Got burned last time.

    Thanks again everyone,
    Tom
