    On bootup, SuSE displays the kernel in use. SMPs from SuSE will have the
    '-SMP' suffix in their version number. (My guess would be that you
    installed a single-processor kernel if you've only recently added the 2nd
    processor, no?)

    On the other hand, if you are installing SuSE for the first time, you will
    be prompted to choose the kernel you wish...

    You can also compile-your-own kernel with the SMP option on...
