Subject: [suse-sparc] Sparc Xterminal 1 and linux?

Hello,

I'm trying to boot a SPARC XTERMINAL 1 with a linux kernel.

I've setup rarp on my Ultra 2 to assign the XTERMINAL an ip address
and this goes ok. Using tcpdump, I see that it then tries to dowload
an image '86671043.SUN4M' using tftp. So I setup tftp and this works
fine, but of course I have no image to load.

What exactly is this image '86671043.SUN4M' that its trying to load?
I assume this isn't just a straight kernel file, but some sort of
bootable image. How would I create a bootable image? Is there a tool
for this purpose?

As an experiment, I copied 'tftp32.img' from the suse installation
disk to my /tftpboot directory and renamed it to '86671043.SUN4M'.
After this, the SPARC XTERMINAL 1 grabs the image and runs the kernel
and linuxrc so I know linux will run on the box. It says it is using
the 'sun4cdm' kernel. Can I compile this kernel as a target from the
stock sparc-linux sources?

I'm a bit unclear on how to get a diskless XTERMINAL going. Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff
