Subject: [suse-sparc] UltraSparc Enterprise1 install problem

Hello!
I have recently gotten a hold of a Sun UltraSparc Enterprise 1. It came
preloaded (it was preowned) with solaris worked fine with no problems.
However, after about 2 min I wantted Linux on it. I went to the SuSE website
and got the iso images and burned them. The machine will boot, gets to a
point in the installation where it will say "preparing
installation...................." then after about 15 min say "An error
occurred during the installation!".

It then takes me to a screen that says "SuSE GmbH" at the top
I dug around in the logs on that screen and the only "error" I can find in
the logs is the last 6 lines before the abort. All say:
"sys32_ioctl(linuxrc:9): Unknown cmd fd(4) cmd900005385) arg(effff020)"
Which has zero results in google. I couldnt find any info about that error.

According to the information SuSE provides me I have a:
Processor: TI UltraSparc I (spitfire)
256mb ram
HD's: IBM 2.1gb and SeaGate 2.1gb
CD: Toshiba 4x
1 network card

I can mount the CDROM but after mounting, it says "error reading from floppy
disk". I have tried the iso's from isolinux.org, SuSE website, and a SuSE
secondary site. All were validated in the MD5SUM check, all give me the same
problem.

I tried looking through the archives of this newsletter, saw somethings that
were similar, but found nothing that was able to help me out. Any ideas, and
suggestions would be highly welcomed.

Thanks!
~S~
