I had the same issue. The solution that I worked was to take the drive
to another machine and start it there.. The 5/170 is a different beast.
Not 100% sparc compliant. I did it up, but basically in stalled the OS
on anther machine.
Never had any issues except that one.

Due to the fact, that I do not intend to install another OpSys, I decided to boot with the MBR. So I told it to YaST2. After installing it succesfully and effective connection to my private network I drove the machine down to test the behavior of my Sparc during the reboot Now the issue: This machine does'nt wont to boot. So I've seen, while booting it with the rescue system, there are some flags, dedicated to the spezific partitions - I've made more of them - to see in the fdisk. My assumption now is, that I have to switch one of them to tell the machine the boot partition. Anyone out there, who could give me a advice to tune for proper booting? best regards Heinz-Peter Josten GMVT mbH Gesellschaft für Meß-, Regel- und Verfahrenstechnik Ulmer Strasse 8 D-89331 Burgau / Schwaben mailto: josten@gmvt.de mobil: +49-175-20 20 647 fon: +49-8222-4129-841 fax: +49-8222-4129-842
