I tried 'make vmlinux' when another list reader suggested that. From
reading the Makefile I did suspect that was the way to go.

I am unable to take the system out of service right now, so I can
connect keyboard and monitor to it.
I don't want to adjust the silo.conf file and try booting the new kernel
before I have keyboard and monitor connected to the system.
