Hi,
you have probably read Klaas' announcement of TaskJuggler 1.9.2_unstable
already. This release should be already very close to TaskJuggler 2.0. All
coding work is done and unless many new bugs are found, the code won't change
much anymore.
There is only one construction site left and that's the documentation. I plan
to finish this work over the next few weeks and then we are ready for a 2.0
release.
If you haven't tried any of the 1.9.x releases or a CVS snapshot you will see
that we have made significant progress. There are lots of new features and
several bugs have been fixed. Large parts of the code have been cleaned up or
completely rewritten.
I have little information about how many TaskJuggler users there are, but
judging from our web site log, it's already in use at many big companies. So
we will be a lot more careful with new releases than we have been in the
past.
The 1.9.x releases have been a first step in this direction, but many probably
got scared by the 'unstable' suffix. We use here at SuSE exclusively the CVS
version of TaskJuggler. It's pretty solid.
Your projects very likely will use features, that we don't use. So, please
help us testing and try 1.9.2 or even the daily CVS snapshots.
If you find a bug, try to isolate them in a small project and send this to the
developers mailing list at taskjuggler-devel@suse.com.
