TaskJuggler uses the KTextEditor interface of KDE. So theoretically every embedded Editor component should work transparently. In practice however, I only found kate to work reliable. The rest was prone to crashes, so I stopped testing them. kvim was the worst offender and I'm not sure if it is maintained at all right now.
Did you ever get kvim to work as an embedded editor in another application? If not, then switching this setting back to kate will not bother you.
If you prefer to use vim, you can do this in parallel with TaskJugglerUI and just use the latter as a viewer.
