I?m using 3 Virtual Machine provided by our VMWare Farm following prerequisite from your website. At the moment, each VM have 2 vCPU, 4GB RAM and 60GB of disk storage I downloaded Caas DVD 1 and used manual install. First time I installed the admin node and after that I installed other two VM ?cluster node? profile. All seems to go perfectly (there are minor error log during boot time related, probably, to some vmware driver but all goes up) except for last step started from admin node web interface. Admin node can see other two nodes. In WebUI I selected first node like Master for Kubernetes Cluster . After that I clicked on ?Bootstrap Cluster?. I suppose, after some work did in background, something should happens but still this morning (after more than 12 hours) Web Interface didn?t finish. Look at the screenshot in attach. If I click on ?Download Kubectl config? I receive the message ?Provisioning did not yet finish. Please wait until the cluster is ready.? (look at second image in attach). This say there something still in working or something goes wrong. What happens? What can I do? How is possible a simple installation didn?t complete shortly? When used on bare metal deployments (or virtualized environment that do not support this service) you have two possibilities: * Use a NodePort: https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/services-networking/service/#publishing-services---service-types * Use an ingress resource: https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/services-networking/ingress/ Cheers Flavio From fcastelli at suse.com Thu Jun 8 05:45:21 2017 From: fcastelli at suse.com (Flavio Castelli) Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2017 13:45:21 +0200 Subject: [caasp-beta] R: Problem with Caas Platform installation In-Reply-To: References: <6B32A824-D75C-49B5-975C-C8DC818E9880@suse.com> Message-ID: On 06/08/2017 11:18 AM, PAGANO ROSARIO wrote: > for this issue I checked messages and I see lot of lines like following: > > > > 017-06-08T09:08:14.486063+00:00 susecaas1 hyperkube[2051]: E0608 > 09:08:14.485989 2051 reflector.go:188] > pkg/kubelet/config/apiserver.go:44: Failed to list *api.Pod: Get > http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v1/pods?fieldSelector=spec.nodeName%3D127.0.0.1&resourceVersion=0: > dial tcp 127.0.0.1:8080: getsockopt: connection refused This is a know issue that has been fixed inside of the current development branch of SUSE CaaSP. But this currently does not really help, update-ca-certificates is not able to scope with read-only root filesystem yet ... Best solution (prefereable anyway, even for plain SLES): create an RPM with the certificates you need, call update-ca-certificates in the post install section, and install that on this machines. Makes the certificate management and update much easier. And in this case, you can even use /usr/share/pki/trust/anchors. If so, autoyast did it for you based on what you set up in the admin node. You can change the password by ssh from the admin node to the master node as root. There are shared keys that should let you in. I?m a little bit confused when you are talking about master and admin nodes. In fact I couldn't setup any nodes. There is steps that I have performed: With VMX 1. Download VMware files a. SUSE-CaaS-Platform-1.0-VMware.x86_64-1.0.0-RC1.vmdk b. SUSE-CaaS-Platform-1.0-VMware.x86_64-1.0.0-RC1.vmx 2. Run virtual machine 3. After the boot, I get the following screen but I don?t know root credentials and I can?t access to http://10.1.133.28/ from my browser. With ISO 1. Download all ISO files a. SUSE-CaaS-Platform-1.0-DVD-x86_64-RC1-DVD1.iso b. SUSE-CaaS-Platform-1.0-DVD-x86_64-RC1-DVD2.iso c. SUSE-CaaS-Platform-1.0-DVD-x86_64-RC1-DVD3.iso 2. Perform the installation with SUSE-CaaS-Platform-1.0-DVD-x86_64-RC1-DVD1.iso 3. During the installation I was never prompted for choosing keyboard, root password or some others parameters. System just installed itself automatically. 4. When installation was finished and after a reboot, I get a login screen but I still don?t have root credentials. Having keen and engaged beta participants such as yourself is what enables the team to make the best product they possibly can. So thank you for taking time out of your day to give the product a spin. If someone hasn?t shared the public roadmap for CaaS Platform already with your team then I?m sure this is something we can sort out. But please do bear in mind that v1 will be an initial release. The messaging from our product team has been clear: v1 is aimed towards development environments and should not be used as a production platform for hosting containers just yet. v2 and beyond will address that and give us a very capable easy to use platform that I?m sure our customers and partners alike will love! It?s also a good moment for me to point out that we?ll be having many sessions around CaaS Platform at our upcoming SUSECON in September. Not only sessions and talks but also many hands-on labs that you can come and enjoy. If you haven?t registered already then a discount code is in my email signature (although SAP do get guest passes being one of our main sponsors this year so it may be worth speaking to your manager to see if you can go). A friendly note for future reference: it?s best to email the caasp-beta list rather than emailing the product team/AJ directly as you?ll get a response much quicker through that route ? I agree all your points. We had some issue came up with our VORA which resides on kubernetes as docker image. Anyways that is not a issue at all the docker release. Yes I have been actively using CaaSP since from beta as well RC1 and I am waiting for the GA to be available to see what features and bug fixes will add to GA release. Curently CaaSP I have the RC1. Either way the simple answer is no. The more complex is answer is no for CaaSP and for standard sles you can use the upstream docker-ce packages but they will not upgrade as they?re a different name (if I?m correct) and it must be pointed out that they are unsupported by suse and may have bugs or not work at all (some users do have issues with this). May I ask why are you trying to do this or what are you trying to achieve?? If we?re talking in terms of CaaSP then Kubernetes provides a lot of features (plus many many more) that are in available in the upstream packages so you shouldn?t need a newer docker version on CaaSP. I?ve had customers ask me this at the tour what version were we on and I would always respond with ?why do you care? What are you trying to do that you can?t?? And so far without failure they?ve not been able to give me a valid reason. Do you have time next week to discuss on CaaSp beta . Sorry, I'm travelling next week. Can you tell me a bit what you like to do? We can have a meeting the week after. What's your timezone? Do you know when this beta starts, I have requested to add my email as beta customer but I have not received any communication and I am kind of nowhere whom to reach on Container as a service beta ? It starts on the 30th of March. If you're subscribed, all is fine. Right now the list is really low traffic. Did you get a confirmation that you're subscribed? Andreas Best Regards, Rushi.
