Hi Dick,

thanks - than may be the problem is related to my older VM-Workstation version (11.4), I will try in a different and newer environment.

Regards,

Uwe

Hi Uwe,

Using a VM-Workstation with no Network and two virtual CD/DVD devices a Beta4 new install is now running. A simple Gnome system.

When asked to access the 2nd iso (packages), do you give it a CD or a DVD 'cos a DVD has / can given access issues and saying it's a CD seems to always work.

Not sure it that's your issues but using a VM-Workstation v14.0..it's running. I did try Yast2 to update from Packages and selected DVD and that did give a wobbly...

The install is finished and the Beta4 is running, looks Okay bar some web-scripting-module issues which I see on an Update.

Hi Uwe,

I'm an updater not a new-installer but I did run a new install using Beta2 as Updated was dead on the development floor and that was using VM-Workstation and the same method you are describing. I think it did have a Network, so not quite as you say. As I said, an Update using Beta4 and *no* Network does work using VM-Workstation and two virtual CD/DVD devices.

Hello,

I used vmware workstation and provided the second iso via second CD/DVD device (checked that both devices are connected and powered on).

Booting into the rescue system both are visable without manual inverention and in correct order.

I will try to get some more infos.

Regards, Uwe

If this is the case, you could be more explicit when specifying the URL of your CD/DVD and point libzypp to the specific device, as documented here:

https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Libzypp_URIs#CD.2FDVD

Alternatively, you can always put the contents of hte media on a local HTTP server.

In any case, it could be interesting to see the logs to find out what exactly happened during your installation...

  Jiri
