From beta-programs at lists.suse.com Fri Dec 14 06:51:17 2018 From: beta-programs at lists.suse.com (SUSE Beta Program) Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2018 14:51:17 +0100 Subject: [sle-beta] [ANNOUNCE] SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 4 is Generally Available Message-ID: <5c13b555298e6_5c2388930c156c@boucane.mail> SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 4 is now officially released! And this mark the end of our 12 SP4 Public Beta Program for: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server For SAP (SLES for SAP), SUSE Linux Enterprise Just Enough Operating System (JeOS), SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED), SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability (SLEHA), SUSE Linux Enterprise Workstation Extension (SLEWE), and SUSE Linux Enterprise Software Development Kit (SLESDK). The public announcement from our Marketing team can be found here[1]. == End of SLE 12 SP4 Beta Program Our Beta testers community (YOU!) have opened 82 bugs in total, and we have created around 200 SLES builds (more than 500 for all SLE products) from Alpha1 to Gold Master. What does the end of SLE 12 SP4 Beta Program means for your existing issues?: 1) Issues reported on previous beta milestones (like RC) which do not have a fix included in GM will be considered to be fixed by Maintenance Updates post release of the final version of SLE 12 SP4. 2) New bug report for SLE 12 SP4 should now be made through our official support system on https://scc.suse.com/support/requests. == Your feedback matters Did you know that more than 100 SUSE employees are subscribed to our sle-beta at lists.suse.com Mailing List? And of course our Product Managers, Project Managers, Release Managers, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Support, Documentation teams are reading sle-beta emails and bugs. So multiple teams can work on beta issue, our codes will be fixed by our engineering team but our QA teams, might found valuable information and create new QA tests in parallel of the engineering work. Therefore we want to fix bugs but also create and setup manual QA or automated openQA tests to: 1) Spot any reappearence of the issue directly in our internal build system, 2) Opening the test coverage to all supported SLE versions (SLE 12 SPX and SLE 15 SPX), which are of course important for our migration test cases. Last but not least, you can always contact us privately via beta-programs at lists.suse.com. This is our SUSE internal only mailing list for anything related to any SUSE Beta Program. == Brace yourself, SLE 15 SP1 is coming We are closing the SLE 12 SP4 Public Beta Program but we will open the SLE 15 SP1 Public Beta Program very soon. Stay in touch! == More informations SLE Beta Page[1] Release Notes[3] We are thankful for your support in trying out our beta products and we welcome your feedback. We hope that beta testing SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 4 fulfilled your needs and that we have provided the necessary help for your project. Have fun beta testing! I'm on another site today and off for Christmas holidays in Ireland on Friday. So It will be Wednesday 3rd Jan before I can make some changes. I think the log starts with a zypper migration --query, before that I addend the test reg-code, the run a zypper up to check all was well and there were no new patches, I should have shown that as well, will be next time. When the migration --query runs Okay I shutdown -h now and when down take a snapshot, this is all under VMware Workstation 15.0.3. so I know I have a good point to return to if things don't go well. After the re-ipl I run the --query again and then the migration. The chatter around "snapper" is always there but the new signing key is new.... Sorry about the timing, but it will be the 1st task on the 3rd. I'll go back to the snapshot and run a --rollback ? If you can give me some pointers on what diagnostic to set I'd be obliged. Check you have the correct reg_code installed, all the test so fae have been on x86_64, no s390x run SUSEConnect --status-text and --list-ext and check it looked Okay run zypper up to check there were no patches outstanding. run zypper ls and lr to check they look Okay run zypper ve to check it looked Okay run zypper migration --query and check it looked Okay and there was a migration available. then for me, "shutdown -h now" and take a VMware snapshot as a point of return. After the re-ipl run zypper migration --query just in case anything has changed. run zypper migration This for SLES12 worked 99% of the time This for SLES15 has not worked on 5 different virtual machines. All the machines have been running application software and test for many months. They all pass the above checks, but they all fail to migrate to SP1 Beta1 Now this is Beta1 so I would expect some failures when running the Beta, but I'm not getting that far. In the beta for SLES15 SP0 I spent many months tiring to get from SLES12 to SLES15 but the SP0 does now work, so what check should I add before I migrate to find out what the issues are ? Should one be looking in /etc/zypp/.... and checking "something" there ? adding the -v to the zypper command, I expect that would give support more input but confuse the life out of me, I will use -v in 2019. I'm going to Ireland for Christmas, back on the 3rd and looking forward to reading how I can do better and get SP0 to SP1 Wishing you all an Interesting and Healthy Christmas and a grand slide into 2019. __R Software AG ? All the machines have been running application software and test for many months. They all pass the above checks, but they all fail to migrate to SP1 Beta1 Could you, please, be more specific about that? How do they fail? They can fail in the registration step; they can fail due to packaging errors. There are so many possible ways that without more details we can hardly help. If you don't want to put too many details in a list because of the email size, you can create a bug in the SUSE bzilla and just point to it. > Now this is Beta1 so I would expect some failures when running the Beta, but I'm not getting that far. > > I'm going to Ireland for Christmas, back on the 3rd and looking forward to reading how I can do better and get SP0 to SP1 > > Wishing you all an Interesting and Healthy Christmas and a grand slide into 2019. All I can say is: zypper cannot find the public key for the repo. Either your installed system does not contain our public keys, but I have no idea how you could have get the system into that state and how to fix that, or the update repo is not our official one but an own one signed with another key. With a fresh installed SLES15 and the repos provided by SCC/update.suse.com, I cannot reproduce your problem, zypper identifies the key correct.
