Hi,
We know that the GMC milestone of SLE 15 is highly anticipated, we can?t really
communicate any ETA at the moment BUT:
- We can reassure you that we are working heavily on polishing and fixing this
milestone, GMC is the last phase before ?Gold Master?!
- As a ?mise en bouche? (French that could be translate as appetizer in english),
here the past Highlights of YaST Development Sprint you may have missed.
In my opinion these are the most verbose and technical insights you can read
from our R&D and SLE/Leap 15 development. It goes without saying that I highly
recommend you to read them all or just the topic that interested you the most.
Highlights of YaST Development Sprint 54
- Installation and Upgrade
- Clearer Description of Migration Targets
- Importing the SMT Server SSL Certificate at Upgrade
- Many System Roles
- Storage
- Better Message for Multipath (and other) Problems
- AutoYaST is now Able to Reuse Encrypted Devices
- Miscellaneous
- Fixed AutoYaST profiles validation issues.
- Translation Issues
- The XSL File Format
- Missing textdomain Call
Highlights of YaST Development Sprint 55
- Updating NFS Version Handling
- Fixing Broken Translations
- Installing Over VNC Using the Browser
- Asking Once About Equivalent Licenses
- License Confirmation in CaaSP 3.0
- Improving the addon Boot Option Handling
- Echoes of Winter: White Text on a White Background
Highlights of YaST Development Sprint 56
- Keep predictable network devices settings on S390x
- Fun with console configuration of GRUB2
- Bootloader configuration during upgrade
- Fixing kdump on Xen
- Improving the upgrade from SLE11/12 to SLE15
- Falling back to the guided proposal
- Leap /SLE 15 is closed, but Tumbleweed is still rolling
Highlights of YaST Development Sprint 57
- Fine tuning installer behavior in small disks
Included some "openSUSE Conference 2018? like this one ?New YaST storage stack:
technical overview? -> https://youtu.be/_0VKUjFAIwo
- More parameter passing for s390
- Fun with MD RAIDs
- And even more fun with MD RAIDs
- Improved error reporting for wrong bootloader in AutoYaST
- Setting the default subvolume name in AutoYaST
- Skipping Btrfs subvolume creation
Happy reading,

install the GMC version and not RC4 of kernel-source:
noarch/kernel-source-4.12.14-23.1.noarch.rpm
GMC ships with the correct kernel-source RPM.

Thorsten,
I installed SLES15 GMC, not RC4.
I did another fresh install and got the same result.
And, I could not find kernel-source-4.12.14-23.1.noarch.rpm from all 3 installer DVD ISO files.
Where do I find it in general ?

Ah. The kernel-source-4.12.14-23.1.src.rpm is on the Packages DVD 2.
It's not on the installer media.
I guess this is where you got the old one from - the version you mentioned
was shipped with RC4.
Or you may have installed it through the update channel since RC4 was out,
as a kernel was released there.
You can find the kenrel source on the Package Media, DVD2, and after the
first kernel update was released (which will be close to FCS most likely)
you find the sources for that updated kenrel in the update channels.
Hope this helps.
ciao,
Stefan

Subject: [sle-beta] Problems getting autoyast2 working on SLES 15 GMC
Message-ID: <19316d8b-33e8-05af-bbe3-a4e40f180365@puppet.com>
Hi there,
I first posted this on the Suse Support Forum and was referred to this
mailing list.
I'm trying to get an autoyast setup working with SLES 15 GMC. I've
generated an autoinst.xml from a manual install of the OS, but I cannot
seem to use it to perform an automated install. The automated install
begins, but during the "Configure software selections" step, I get the
error:
These packages cannot be found in the software repositories:
autoyast2: The package is not available
autoyast2-installation: The package is not available
This then prevents the auto-installer from proceeding to stage2 where I
need a few additional packages installed (kernel-devel, gcc, make, etc).
I've tried this by also enabling my SLES 15 beta registration code in
the autoinst.xml file, but with the same results. I've included a
sanitized autoinst.xml file below (without the suse_register section).
Please let me know what I'm doing incorrectly.
Thanks,
Scott

I think you are at least missing the add-on registration part:
x86_64sle-module-server-applications15
...
or add the local repos:
sle-module-basesystem/sle-module-server-applications/
Best wishes

Hi,
Sorry for the delayed response, you should be able to do so with something like
this:

ISOs can be selected as repositories in config.xml using the `path="iso://"`
URI in source tag from repositories.
This is documented in https://doc.opensuse.org/projects/kiwi/doc/#sec.description.repository
Let us know if this is working for you.

I understand that there are many sub-repositories in that ISO but ? how do I specify them in the config.xml file? As a work around, I extracted all the RPMs from the packages that I needed and created a directory repository but there must be a better way.

Message-ID: <5b310cffdbe4b_7f5fb41310218dd@sle-prjmgr.mail>

The packages removed are:
- glusterfs
- glusterfs-devel
- libgfapi0
- libgfchangelog0
- libgfdb0
- libgfrpc0
- libgfxdr0
- libglusterfs0

== Important Notice
=Gold Master Candidate
We are near the end of the SLE 15 Public Beta Program. Our Gold Master Candidate
phase is the last phase of our internal development. **HOWEVER this GMC2 provided is still
considered as a BETA version!**.
Issues reported on a GMC2 will be considered to be fixed by maintenance updates
post release of the final version of SLE 15.
=Packages DVD
When using Packages DVD to install SLE modules, please make sure to also add the
Product repository you are installing (SLES / SLED / HA / ...) from Packages DVD.
Not doing so might result in missing system roles during installation.

Subject: [sle-beta] Adding an RPM repository to SUSE 15 autoinst
Message-ID:
Hi,
I'm trying to add an RPM repository to my autoinst.xml file for SUSE 15.
The product I'm installing is SLES. I have the following add-ons under my
suse_register entry:
AliasSUSE Linux Enterprise Server 151[*repo_url]*
And the installation fails with:
*These packages cannot be found in the software repositories:
**autoyast2: The package is not available
**autoyast2-installation: The package is not available*
meaning my repo wasn't added. Because when I proceed with the rest of the
installation, then add the repo locally via:
zypper ar -f *[repo_url]* "Alias"
and then proceed to install autoyast2, and my other packages with
zypper install --repo "Alias"
things work OK.
Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong here?
Thanks!
-Enis

Also, I'd like my installation to be unregistered, if that is possible.

You could try relurl:///
In other cases, autoyast accepts this, haven't tried it here.
