Many thanks Oliver. I'll take a look when I get home. I would have thought the UPDATE would have added in all the relevant bits and bobs as there are many repositories in the mix.

https://scc.suse.com/products/1575/packages reveals that open-vm-tools is in
the basesystem module, at least on x86_64, so it should be available if you
have a registered system. open-vm-tools-desktop is in the "desktop
applications" module though.
