SUSE Manager, or with a self setup local source. The second media is intend to use in the case where a full disconnected installation is needed and no local resource nor proxy is used. I call this the submarine approach. Of course, beyond submarines, there is another group doing single installs and as such do not want to set up an on-line resource, and instead using straight (and regularly) the packages media - that is beta customers and developers. We are looking to improve this, most like by making the packages media bootable. Unfortunately this is something for SP2. In the time in between, you might want to look at https://www.suse.com/documentation/suse-best-practices/sbp-sle15-custom-installation-medium/data/sbp-sle15-custom-installation-medium.html This does not help with the one-off type of installation, but might help with other production setups. > * The fact that disk1-3 needs explanations (and the fact that install+packeg x > Disc1-3 creates a big combination) ?src? + ?debuginfo? should really be > included in the file names to make it intuitively understandable This is part of the download pages and the product documentation. We will review the text to make sure it is clear what image is needed for what. NB: debuginfo media is not available as a generic download. I will create a feature request to look into the name of the medias, to make them more intuitive (and before someone ask, to drop the 'DVD' in it). > When installing offline from the package DVD it Looks like the user is a bit > left alone with no module descriptions and no Default selection (base+sles+app). > Thats really not very clear. As the selection is based on the registration code and the feedback by the SCC/RMT/SUSE Manager this data isn't available when not doing on-line installation. We are aware of this and we are looking into making this more convenience in the future. It?s a different approach when someone is requesting a beta code to be used for a specific need at a specific time and it?s less prone to misusage or confusion because the requester should knows what he requested. That being said, we are working on providing Beta Registration Codes directly from our SUSE Customer Center. I have to admit that this feature is already available to our SUSE Employees. But we need a bit more time to make this feature meet our quality standards for a broader audience. So sorry for the tease without any ETA or details, we are still working on it! > Since I only wanted to check if my installation description (for setting up a database) is still valid I was going with a non-Subscription package install like it worked well before. Gold Master As of today Gold Master ISOs are identical to Gold Master Candidate 3 ISOs but the SLE Beta Program will not provide the GM ISOs! The official and final release (FCS) of SLE 15 SP1 is scheduled for June 24th 2019. However, in the mean time, you can still base your evaluation on GMC3 and the SLE 15 SP1 Beta Registration code will only expire on June 21th 2019. Keep in mind that all images provided (including GMC) as part of the SLE Beta Program are bond to the SUSE Beta EULA[1], and should not be use in a commercial or production system nor considered supported. Any issues reported on previous beta milestones which do not have a fix included in GMC or issues reported directly on GMC will be considered to be fixed by Maintenance Updates post release of the final version of SLE 15 SP1. SLE 12 SP5 is coming! We will close the SLE 15 SP1 Public Beta Program around the FCS date, which still give you time to report and discuss before the official release of SLE 15 SP1 GM. That being said, SLE 12 SP5 Beta Program is coming really soon! It is scheduled to start on June 14th 2019! Please stay tuned! We will provide more information in the upcoming days.
