From beta-programs at suse.com Wed Mar 3 11:00:37 2021 From: beta-programs at suse.com (SUSE Beta Program) Date: Wed, 03 Mar 2021 12:00:37 +0100 Subject: [ANNOUNCE] SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP3 Public Beta is out! Message-ID: <603f6c55ed4a2_afb12bc-31f@MacBouille.local.mail> We are delighted to announce the Public Beta for SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 Service Pack 3! Download[1] openSUSE Leap 15.3 & SLE 15 SP3 Starting with SP3, we are now offering packages pre-built binaries from SLE in addition to the sources we were previously providing to openSUSE. This means that openSUSE Leap and SUSE Linux Enterprise are closer together than before, thus easing the migration from openSUSE Leap to SLES. This article[2] will tell you more about how openSUSE and SLE was made in the past years but also the important changes with openSUSE Leap 15.3 and SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 Service Pack 3. You can find our documentation about the migration from here[3], but also on the openSUSE wiki[4]. Notable Changes since SLE 15 SP2 Selection Please note that information mentioned here are just the tip of the iceberg, i.e it's just a selection so check out our Release Notes[5] and Changelog files[6] for more details and a full list of changes. - New SUSE branding (fonts, wallpaper, etc) - SLES 15 SP3 Beta Base container is available in the SUSE registry and they will be updated weekly. - Linux Kernel 5.3.18 - glibc 2.31 - perl 5.26.1, nodejs 14.15.4, ruby 2.5.8, python3 3.6.12, python39 3.9.0 - Mozilla Firefox 78.7.1 and Mozilla Thunderbird 78.7.0 - Many packages were updated for FIPS compliance - Rootless Container feature is now supported with podman - xca is replacing YAST2 CA Management - Adding betaversion to PRETTY NAME and remove it from VERSION_ID in /etc/os-release - systemd 246.10 which now provides OCI container management via systemd - PostgreSQL13 is now the default PostgreSQL version on SLE 15 SP3. PostgreSQL12 and PostgreSQL10 have been moved to the Legacy Module for migration purposes. Please check out here[7] for more information. - MariaDB 10.5 is now the default mariaDB version on SLE 15 SP3, it's also the current upstream major stable version, first release in June 2020. Please check out here[8] for more information.? Migration issues on aarch64 bsc#1182776[8] and bsc#1182749[9] are breaking Service Pack migration using Installer/YaST on aarch64 with SecureBoot enabled. As a workaround, migrate with zypper migration or disable SecureBoot before doing the migration. More information Schedule[10] Changelog[11] Known issues[11] Questions? It would be nice to test every example config: networking scc partitioning https://documentation.suse.com/sles/15-SP2/single-html/SLES-autoyast/index.html#CreateProfile-General-semi-automatic xmllint returns a very limited diagnostic answer: xmllint --noout --relaxng /usr/share/YaST2/schema/autoyast/rng/profile.rng test test :4: element general: Relax-NG validity error : Element profile has extra content: general test fails to validate Reading profile.rng, it looks like "semi-automatic_entry" does not exist anymore and now it is "module". We have autoyast syntax changes, an enforced syntax validator, no updated doc and a very limited diagnostic answer. I'm doing some fixes in my autoyast profiles based mostly on trial and error and manual bisect. It's taking a lot of time, specially for items deep inside the tree. Login to your uyuni-server an locate the bootstrap-descriptions (/usr/share/susemanager/mgr_bootstrap_data.py) and copy them to another file (/usr/share/susemanager/betatest.py) 2. Open the betatest.py, search for an line like SLE-15-SP2-x86_64 (around Line 1100) 3. Insert the following: 'SLE-15-SP3-x86_64' : { 'PDID' : [2145, 1712], 'BETAPDID' : [1928], 'PKGLIST' : PKGLIST15_TRAD + PKGLIST15_SALT + PKGLIST15_X86_ARM, 'DEST' : '/srv/www/htdocs/pub/repositories/sle/15/3/bootstrap/' }, Important are the numbers in PDID and BETAPDID, they are the product_id's from the table suseproducts in Postgres. YaST downloads the packages using libzypp. And libzypp uses the optional "ssl_verify" query option in URL to enable or disable the SSL check. So just add the "?ssl_verify=no" option to the end of the self-update URL. Hi Luiz, main goal of new validator is early catch of issues in autoyast profile so you do not waste time with invalid profile. As you can read in previous reply you can also disable it. Because parser for child of element that has type "list" ignores name and just parse its value. > xmllint returns a very limited diagnostic answer: > > xmllint --noout --relaxng /usr/share/YaST2/schema/autoyast/rng/profile.rng test > test :4: element general: Relax-NG validity error : Element profile has extra content: general > test fails to validate I think even in error report suggestion is to use jing as validator to get better error message. Sadly we cannot use it directly in installer as it is java based and we do not have space/RAM for running it in installation. > > Reading profile.rng, it looks like "semi-automatic_entry" does not exist anymore and now it is "module". As said before it was that way always in schema, just bug in documentation. Good part is that we are now discussion to allow both in schema as both works and it is already in documentation. > > We have autoyast syntax changes, an enforced syntax validator, no updated doc and a very limited diagnostic answer. > I'm doing some fixes in my autoyast profiles based mostly on trial and error and manual bisect. The problem is that it blocks existing workflows, although with errors, with a generic error message. It would be fantastic if xmllint or ruby rexml or nokorigi relaxng validators could be improved to give a better user feedback. It would also help the user to decide to ignore the existing autoyast errors or not. It is the first time I read jing will provide me with better error messages. I'll try it. Most yast users are not familiar with relaxng to decide the better validator. Yast only says it is an alternative solution, just like xmllint. It should be more clear that it is better. Anyway, I still thing it would be better to improve existing validators as they can be used inside installer with little extra weight. Nobody wants to bring java into the installer. It's good to know you can ignore it, but it should be easier to do, like a "Ignore", "Cancel", "Retry (redownloading)". I agree. We consider all options but ruby REXML implementation is not complete and does not work with our schema. and nokogiri and xmllint is both based on libxml2 and it is long time issue in it. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/61 where one of bug reports are from year 2003. > > It is the first time I read jing will provide me with better error messages. Nobody wants to bring java into the installer. I agree, but as it is long standing issue in libxml2 I have higher hope that rexml implementation will be complete and with better errors. > > It's good to know you can ignore it, but it should be easier to do, like a "Ignore", "Cancel", > "Retry (redownloading)". There is an updated autoyast-rpm, but that doesn't helm me much as I'm not aware how to integrate that in the autoyast-process. There is an installer-update step, but these step comes AFTER the evaluation of the rules file, so that doesn?t help much. > > Regards, Jan > > > C2 General > > -----Urspr?ngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Vincent Moutoussamy > Gesendet: Montag, 29.
