query on whether a kernel patch is backported

Nice! Is there any chance of it being backported in SLES 15 SP3?

Regards,

Greg

Hi Vincent,

you are right that in this phase of the SLE development cycle we are strict about which changes enter the kernel codebase. So, such a patch might have to wait either post-release or for the next service pack.

In this particular case, however, the situation is different. The fix was originally developed in SUSE and simultaneously ported to SLE<https://github.com/openSUSE/kernel-source/commit/6c87519eef5f11f3baed0b613644967392a92e10> and posted upstream. As a result, SLE 15 SP4 received the change earlier than the mainline kernel and the optimization has been part of the beta releases.

Hope that helps.

Libor

Hi there,

This patch looks too recent to me for being included in 15SP4, but I'm no expert.

@Libor Pechacek<mailto:LPechacek at suse.com> we need your help, could you please comment?

Thanks and have a nice day everyone,

Regards,

Hi SuSE,

This article references a nice code change that could help our Milan HPC cluster quite a bit, I think. Are there plans to have it included in SLES 15 SP4?
