To ensure the Beta 2 quality we had to slightly delay the generation of the Beta 2 isos, and we are now in the process of uploading on our CDN to provide all the isos on download.suse.com for all regions. Unfortunately, we are experiencing delay on the upload process and we are working hard to make the isos available today. SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear Beta participants, we are happy to announce the second Beta of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP2. ISO images are now available for download now. Please go to http://www.novell.com/beta and select "View my beta page". Here you should see all Beta's you are part of. Note that the directory contains the images for the SDK as well as for SLED. We offer 3 DVD ISOs: DVD1 contains the binaries, the second DVD the sources and the third DVD the debuginfo packages. The final product will not contain the debuginfo packages on the media. For installation purposes you just need Media 1 for your architecture. Please verify the sha256sum of the ISO using the SHA256SUMS file, which can be found in the same directory on the download servers. Known issues: * Registration is not working with your regular SLE key, special regcode is required * multipathd can crash, leading to booting into "emergency mode" [bsc#982348] * migration from a previous product can still require manual interaction, depending on packages installed * booting from FCoE does not work [bsc#982588] With this Beta2 snapshot we have reached several milestones: o Milestone: Update is working (installable media). o Start performance and regression tests. o Start update tests. o Start system test. o Continue install and functional tests. o Continue tests of new/updated device drivers. For the next Beta-Release we are targetting these actions and milestones: o Milestone: All SLE12 SP2 features have been functionally tested. o Milestone: All new/updated device drivers have been tested. o Continue install and functional tests. o Continue update, performance and regression tests. o Continue system test. o Start first stress and certification tests. Yes, you have a SLEWE regcode, it?s the same as the SLES regcode, cf. the email I have sent with the Beta RegCode: "Your Beta Registration Code for SLE 12 SP2 Beta Program?: Hi, I?m glad to give your ?Beta Registration code" for our SLE 12 SP2 Beta program. Here is your Beta Registration key(s): SLES and SLEWE : ************ SLED : ************ SLEHA : ************ * Start date: May 21, 2014 * Expiry date: January 31, 2017 * Registration code: DA8C1A90A**** * Registered systems: 2/7 of ? If this is the case then do I just request a new code for SP-2 or is there more to this story. It does give a lot of nags when ones runs an Update. Is SUSE happy to run SP-2 Beta2 with a WS from SP-1, it is trying to use a WS from SP-2 but gets a not authorization to do so. To run a full QA/QE of SAG's application I do need the WS. Have a good day, For Beta purpose, please do not use your regular SLE RegCode instead of the Beta SLE RegCode. This will not work and we do not intend to make it work. We intend to keep the separation between your SLE in production and your SLE in Beta test via the SLE RegCode. The console log you attached refers to SUSE Linux Enterprise Workstation Extension 12 _SP1_ and says it is Not Registered (which is hardly surprising if it's really SP1 and not a mis-reported SP2). Given both the product name and identifier both reference SP1 I'd say try adding/pointing to the SP2 WE ISO and retrying registration. SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear Beta participants, we are happy to announce the third Beta of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP2. ISO images are now available for download now. Please go to http://www.novell.com/beta and select "View my beta page". Here you should see all Beta's you are part of. Note that the directory contains the images for the SDK as well as for SLES. Known issues: * Registration is not working with your regular SLE key, special regcode is required * migration from a previous product can still require manual interaction, depending on packages installed * on ppc64le, the kernel-devel release number differs from the kernel-default release number, resulting in an error when trying to install it. With this Beta3 snapshot we have reached several milestones: o Milestone: All SLE12 SP2 features have been functionally tested. o Milestone: All new/updated device drivers have been tested. o Continue install and functional tests. o Continue update, performance and regression tests. o Continue system test. o Start first stress and certification tests. For the next Beta-Release we are targetting these actions and milestones: o Milestone: All features are verified to work. o Milestone: All updated device drivers are verified and proven to be stable o Milestone: System test completed. o Milestone: Legal review of SLE12 SP2 contents completed. o Fix problems found during update, performance or certification tests. o Run intense stress and certification tests. o Fix critical and blocker bugs. Short version: You can download SLES 12 SP2 Beta3 directly from: https://download.suse.com/Download?buildid=sl4IW_HRfKs%7E Long version: Sorry for the confusion, novell.com/beta is deprecated since the SLE 12 SP2 Beta Program launch and we had http://beta.suse.com/private/SLE12/SP2-BETA/ as a replacement. However starting with Beta3, we will make SLE 12 SP2 Beta Program available to the Public and will close http://beta.suse.com/private/SLE12/SP2-BETA/ and replace it by the following official webpage: SUSE Beta Program landing page: https://www.suse.com/support/beta-program SUSE Linux Enterprise Beta Program landing page: https://www.suse.com/support/beta-program/secure/beta-sle.html Sorry again about the mixed communication and the confusion, focusing on baking and delivering SLE 12 SP2 Beta 3 + preparing the Public Beta Program at the same time did not help : ). I will clean up novell.com/beta and officially clarify everything soon. A lot of people have been asking for it for a long time and after months of work, we can announce it: KDE5 is now available for SLE12 SP1 x86_64 users, through openSUSE:Backport repository. First, for people wondering, those packages are NOT SUPPORTED by SUSE but they should not affect supportability of SLE system (we have a lot of policies in place in Backports to ensure that). Second, those packages are only to be used on SLE12 SP1. They will not work on SLE12 SP2. How to install KDE5 on SLE12 SP1: To install KDE5 on SLES or SLED 12 SP1 systems, SDK needs to be enabled, either through yast or using SUSEConnect: sudo SUSEConnect -p sle-sdk/12.1/x86_64 All maintenance update from SLE12 SP1 must be applied (this includes an update to Qt5 which is mandatory for KDE5) : sudo zypper patch Then, you need to add openSUSE:Backport repositories to the system: sudo zypper addrepo -fc http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Backports:/SLE-12/s tandard/openSUSE:Backports:SLE-12.repo sudo zypper addrepo -fc http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Backports:/SLE-12-S P1/standard/openSUSE:Backports:SLE-12-SP1.repo sudo zypper refresh Then, you install KDE pattern (other patterns are available): sudo zypper in -t pattern kde And that's it.
