This is what I wanted to avoid. Sure, LVM gives much flexibility ( I'm using it for the same reasons you describe) ,
but as far as I understand btrfs it is incorporating the functions of LVM ( adding disks, grow the availabe space etc.)
Why use a stack if all can be done via the filesystem ? ;-)
