Hi,

I was able to install (via DVD) SLES 12 Beta 7 with a LUN as the only HD on the server and boot from it.  I enabled multipath when it prompted me to during install.

However, my first attempt failed to boot with a generic message like "something failed during installation" I believe what caused the problem is that in partitioning screen I clicked on advanced and created a new partition table (which deleted the proposed partitions) then I manually created my own partitions and for some reason the installer didn't actually create the partitions or something went wrong during creation process.

Also, I have installed Beta 7 via pxe (uefi), but not on a server connected to a SAN.

wayland/Gnome video updates could be pulled into SLES12 (I assume that they
are way too unstable for "enterprise support" but would be happy with "tech

Wayland is not planned for SLES12 GA. Maybe it will be added
with SP1 as tech preview, but this depends on upstream status,
too.

I have raised SR 10895352291 for some errors i'm seeing with SLES12 B7
ISCSI target service

Although it's actually working when manulaly started there a re a number of
error with the ISCSI Target on SLES12 B7

1. Cyclic dependencies stop Targer.service from running
2. errors reported with the "lio_setup.sh" during service start

Cyclic dependency error (extract from journalctl)

Here are some sample files from my "test lab".

They should give some "working" examples of a XEN VM with "live migration"
for a HA cluster of XEN hosts.

It's a zip file (let me know if it needs to be packaged differently to get
past any antivirus scanners etc) sles12-cluster_example.zip

File contents:
1. crm-config.txt: (export of cluster config using 'crm config show >
crm-config.txt')
You should be able to import modifed subsections of this straight in using
the 'crm' shell environment.
2. working-cib-cleaned.xml: (cleaned up export using cibadmin -Q >
working-cib.xml, with nodes,status sections removed and conflicting infor
removed for crm header).
I can import this using
 cibadmin -E --force
 cibadmin -C -f ./working-cib-cleaned.xml
I'm old fashioned and still favour the xml format ;-)
3. sles12.xml: the "exported" vm configuration file used for the HA/VM
resource.
=> This is an example, you will need to create your own working files ;-)
4. xl.conf: from /etc/xen, this is my configuration which allows live
migrations using EITHER 'tcp" of "ssh" as 'migration transport'
Note, I have created shared SSH keys so that my cluster nodes can ssh to
each other without passwords.

Notes on My HA Cluster configuration
I use a OCFS2 "shared storage" configuration to hold the VM configuration
files and also the "boot" disk images for the VM.

The OCFS2 cluster resources were created using "hawk" and the new OCFS2
cluster filesytem template.

The actual filesystem was initialised with this command:
'mkfs.ocfs2 -b 4k -C 1M -L XEN01 --fs-feature-level=max-features
--cluster-stack=pcmk --cluster-name=cluster
/dev/disk/by-id/dm-uuid-mpath-36001405bebeea89675546079c48419ec -F'

I use SBD for STONITH (there are probably better choices in production)

I left most of the file paths as "defaults" but have created symbolic links
into the OCFS2 shared filesystem for:
node1:/var/lib/libvirt # ls -la images
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 Jun  2 15:41 images ->
/srv/clusterfs/XEN01/images/

Please note, this configuration "works" but bypasses a lot of
authentication/hardening options so is almost certainly not recommended "in
production".

Looks like I missed out on a required ordering constraint...

Please add
"order clusterfs-then-VM-sles12 inf: c-clusterfs VM-sles12"
to your configurations or "bad things" could happen to the VM on restart or
by puting the hosting node into "standby"

I found out the "bad things" retrospectively and now need to reinstall my
VM due to bad btrfs corruption. :-(

The Autoyast support is still not finished yet. Currently there is just a basic
support for registering the base product.

For addons there is currently a simple UI where you have to fill the internal
add-on ID which is quite difficult to get.

It would be better to display the real available addons (just like during
installation), however this requires a registered system. And it needs to be
registered to the same server, mixing SCC and SMT use would not be possible
(e.g. creating a profile using a SMT server on a system registered to SCC).

The requirements are not clear yet, so if you could describe your use case it would
help us.

This is SLE11 schema, in SLE12 it has been little bit changed, I tried to make it
backward compatible as possible, but I'm not sure whether SLE11 profiles will work
without any change... Again, it is not finished yet.

This is not a clean solution and I'd avoid this. SCC (or SMT) returns
a service which is basically a list of repositories while add-on
uses just a single repository. The difference is that the service
contain -Pool and -Update repositories. Moreover the service can be dynamically
changed later, it allows adding or removing a repository, it is much more
flexible than a single repository...

Um, there is a problem with the registration code. Yast does not store it
anywhere in the system (for security reasons), only the credentials
received during registration are saved to /etc/zypp/credentials.d.

So if the system gets compromised you can easily remove it from
scc.suse.com (make the credentials invalid and free the subscription)
and then re-install it and register it using the same registration code
(without need for invalidating the code and receiving a new one).

Therefore cloning cannot fill the reg. code, the cloned profile will need
to be edited manually.

The use case is simple: automated installation of the YAST defined pattern " Web and LAMP Server"

This does mean automated installation of the below defined software packages with NO additional scripting and NO additional zypper commands and NO internet access available.
LAMP is a simple WEB server containing a database, a script part using php and a web server using apache2.
Until SLES12 Beta5 this was possible to install. Since Beta6 php5 is missing and therefore this function pattern is incomplete.
So whenever the pattern lamp_server / sles-lamp_server is in use something needs to be initialized in the background to have the correct modules attached and available for installation.

Note selecting Advanced Systems Management module in Beta 7 gives an 
"Downloading the license for Advanced Systems Management Module failed" 
Error.

On a more general note, I trust module ISOs will be available for 
download once SLES12 is released and are not just provided during the beta.

we are happy to announce the eigth Beta of

	SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12.

ISO images are now available for download now. Please go to
http://www.novell.com/beta and select "View my beta page".
Here you should see all Beta's you are part of.

Note that the directory contains the images for the SDK as well as for the SLED
Extension.

We offer 3 DVD ISOs: DVD1 contains the binaries, the second
DVD the sources and the third DVD the debuginfo packages. 
The final product will not contain the debuginfo packages on the media.

For installation purposes you just need Media 1 for your architecture.

Please verify the md5sum of the ISO using the MD5SUMS file, which can
be found in the same directory on the download servers.


Known issues (selection):
 (several)  - upgrading from SLE 11 SP3 is not working flawlessly, requiring
	       manual interaction;
 (several)  - not all texts are translated yet, but most are
   881539   - grub2 fails to boot from XFS
   881293   - registration fails when upgrading non-registered SLES11 systems
   881532   - dependency issue: nothing provides libfipscheck.so.1 needed by 
	      libcryptsetup4-32bit-1.6.4-1.1.x86_64
	      (we will fix this by releasing an update in the next few days)

Installation on s390x:

         SUSE Linux Enterprise Workstation Extension 12

(this is the new name of the previously named SLED Extension)

ISO images will be now available for download in a few hours (CDN is syncing). 
Please go to
http://www.novell.com/beta and select "View my beta page".
Here you should see all Beta's you are part of.

We offer 2 DVD ISOs: DVD1 contains the binaries, the second
DVD the sources and debuginfo packages.
The final product will not contain the debuginfo packages on the media.

To use this extension (together with upcoming SLES 12 Beta8):
 - start SLES installation
 - choose "use add-ons from media" to select the Add-on ISO image
(retrieving the extension from SCC is not enabled yet).

Highlights:
  - Many bug fixes in the entire distribution

Known problems:
 bnc#861543 - ICAClient not installable
 32bit pattern is empty on SLED/SLE-WE

I have now make "zypper dup" on my KVM system with 4 KVM Client ;)

The first I found (network) we go back to ethX so no network is working ?

Is this a Bug or a real go back ?

Libvirt has also Problems but I have to show what it is :)

It's not a bug.
And yes, zypper dup from one Beta to another Beta is not supported,
else we would not always be able to fix Bugs found in one Beta.

Hello,

This is a new installation with Beta 8.

On my system the first message what I see is a Error from dracut, "cant display 
dracut window" ..or so.

I have to found out is this a #SR ;)

the next is a kdump Error, I mean it is a missing file in the dracut module.

I hope a Update is comming ;)

and the third (dracut / systemd ?) sound managing  I have no sound card on 
this server. but it ends with a Error

All other next week ;).
