VMware published support for new OS releases only after verification of
final build. This typically takes less that 30 days. If no surprises are
found, I believe plan is that ESXi support will require 5.1U2 or later
releases. For guest customization this will require VC version 5.5U2 or
later releases.

Thanks, yes, we knew about that.  we were hoping that there was a supported package in SLE 12 that was recommended (since xxdiff is in openSUSE, but not SLE).

Unfortunately, this request is arriving too late.

Please open a FATE request for this for SP1.

(I'd suggest meld which is a pretty good graphical diff from GNOME but
I'm a bit biased ;)

KDiff3 (kdiff3.sourceforge.net) , we don?t now have KDE but I do understand Qt-libs are supported, I see Qt4 and Qt5, maybe I give it a try while the GMC iso's  are still wondering around our green planet...They have not been seen in this part of Europe yet ;o)

Supported platforms:

    KDE4 <=== Sad but no, but the KDE from openSUSE looks good ;o)

    Any Un*x that is supported by the Qt-libs from qt-project.org,
    MS-Windows.
    Apple Mac OSX binary available. (0.9.98)

    In theory any platform for which Qt-libs work (Qt4 or Qt5). <==== this should open the door for SLES12 ....

Yes, the plan is to release an update of SMT11-SP3, which supports SLE12 
product family, in sync with SLE12 are as close to SLE12 release as 
possible.

Dear SLES12 testers,

a new testing version of SMT is now available at

   http://beta.suse.com/private/SMT-Beta/

This version will, apart from other fixes, fix registration of the SLE12 
GMC release, which will fail against previous releases of SMT.

For updating, make sure to use the latest repo, as referenced at the URL 
above. If you use the date stamp as part of the repository URL instead 
of the symlink 'LATEST', please, adjust the repository URL. For fresh 
installation, you need both the new repository and the original SMT media.

If you updated from older testing snapshots (except the last one), 
update your

   /etc/smt.conf

file and make sure that the URL for mirroring repositories is set as

   NUUrl = https://updates.suse.com

Other settings can be kept unchanged.

After the update is done, you need to re-synchronize with SCC before 
repositories can get mirrored again. To do so, run

   smt-scc-sync

after the packages are updated and the NUUrl is set.

More information is available in the README-SCC file, which is available 
at the URL above, or in the documentation bundled with the packages.

Wendy,

Novell did a half day class a number of years ago called something like Become a Systems Administrator Superstar. They had given out some very nice scripts in that class to automate and do side-by-side diff operations. 

I am fairly sure the scripts are open source. If you would like the scripts and doc I can send them out to you or the list.

Hi all,

First, the good news: We have a GMC, and it was ready in time for an early
release today.

Now the bad news: Due to some issues out of our control a delay happened
with the availability of the images on the download areas.

While I expect the images to appear in the next few hours, I cannot say atm
when exactly this will be. 

As usual, an official announcement will  be made once we see the images appear on
at least one of the mirrors for downloading.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this delay may cause.

Dear Beta participants,

we are proud to announce the release of

	SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 GMC.
	       (Goldmaster Candidate)

ISO images are now available for download now. Please go to
http://www.novell.com/beta and select "View my beta page".
Here you should see all Beta's you are part of.

Note that the directory contains the images for the SDK as well as for the SLED
Extension.

We offer 3 DVD ISOs: DVD1 contains the binaries, the second
DVD the sources and the third DVD the debuginfo packages. 
The final product will not contain the debuginfo packages on the media.

For installation purposes you just need Media 1 for your architecture.

Please verify the md5sum of the ISO using the MD5SUMS file, which can
be found in the same directory on the download servers.

SLE Workstation Extension is providing additional packages for SLES, which were only

It depends ;)

More seriously, packages are identical between SLED and SLE-WE so it is
not really a big problem, but for clarity, please use the newly created
"SLE Workstation Extension" component of SLES 12 product.

I use a ruby script (sorry, not packaged yet for SLE) to check
availability, and at least here "all is green" ;-)

See, when we testing users  want do download, we need to log in and accept the license terms etc...
So maybe you should also use this manual way to check availability

The user can be configured in the config file or credentials.yaml. The
script then tries to login by using these credentials and parsing the
web pages.

(Hm, yes, this might fail, if the user never accepted the license before).

For problems with the script I'd like to ask to contact me offlist, e.g.
in github itself or private mail.

Most likely. I had waited a while to give it time to do so, but given the
sie of the (whole) SLE 12 project it depends sometimes simply on which
product it starts first to deploy :(

Please open a new bug report, set it to "critical" and add yast logfiles 
and the content of that parsed directory/file.
I will have a look on it.

Are you specifying the autoyast URL including the trailing slash, as in 

autoyast=http://10.10.0.1/profile/

?

Hi,

I just tested SLES12GMC in vmware workstation 10.0.3. It works fine if
I don't use encrypted LVM, but fails to boot if LVM encryption is
enabled during installation. It stays in text mode on reboot without a
dialog to enter the password, just a blinking cursor under a couple of
kernel messages. Earlier I tested it on a physical machine and worked
fine, so I suspect, that it's something related to using vmware.

With SLES11, when I create a principal I have only two encrypting Parameters, 
the old one.

With SLES 12 I have 4 encrypting Parameter I mean the newer ?
