Here are some of the most important changes you will find in SP4 (some might not be available at this time in the Beta test). Of course, I didn't mention all the bug fixes which were done through maintenance updates since SP3 GA and are already integrated in SP4. What?s new in SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP4 - new CPU enablement, such as Intel? Xeon? processor E7-8800/4800 v3 product family, IBM z13? These modules are independent repository channels and are included in subscription without additional cost: * Public Cloud Module: The Public Cloud Module is a collection of tools that enables you to create and manage cloud images from the command line on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. When building your own images with KIWI or SUSE Studio, initialization code specific to the target cloud is included in that image. The tools and initialization code in this module will be updated whenever a new version is ready, always giving you the freshest. * Security Module The Security Module was introduced a while ago and it allows customers and partners to build TLS 1.2 compliant infrastructures beyond the https protocol. What?s new in SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11 SP4 SUSE Linux Enterprise High Availability Extension 11 Service Pack 4 includes a new feature called pacemaker_remote. It allows nodes not running the cluster stack (pacemaker+corosync) to integrate into the cluster and have the cluster manage their resources just as if they were a real cluster node. This feature makes it ideal to deploy large scale SAP deployment by supporting worker nodes as scale-out clustering option. With this feature, you can deploy a HA cluster with up to 40+ nodes. SP4 improves the usability in HAWK by introducing new templates and wizards. Oracle and DB2 related templates and wizards make SP4 easier to use to boost your database availability. -- Frederic Crozat Project Manager Enterprise Desktop SUSE From fcrozat at suse.com Wed Mar 4 05:48:11 2015 From: fcrozat at suse.com (Frederic Crozat) Date: Wed, 04 Mar 2015 13:48:11 +0100 Subject: [sles-beta] What's new in SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP4 Message-ID: <1425473291.27961.33.camel@par-r81vxc7.par.novell.com> Dear beta testers, you might be wondering what you should expect from SLE11 SP4, compared to SLE11 SP3. Dear Beta participants, we are happy to announce the second Beta of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP4. ISO images are now available for download now. Please go to http://www.novell.com/beta and select "View my beta page". Here you should see all Beta's you are part of. Note that the directory contains the images for the SDK as well as for SLES. We offer 3 DVD ISOs: DVD1 contains the binaries, the second DVD the sources and the third DVD the debuginfo packages. The final product will not contain the debuginfo packages on the media. For installation purposes you just need media 1 for your architecture. Please verify the md5sum of the ISO using the MD5SUMS file, which can be found in the same directory on the download servers. Known issues (selection): - isohybrid mode not working (installation via USB stick) [bnc#914092] - yast refuses to set /boot on raid1 device on ppc64 [bnc#919980] - SSH not enabled even if SSH used for installation [bnc#920398] - migration from SP3 to SP4 not working without manual interaction for some scenarios With this Beta snapshot we have reached several milestones: o Milestone: Update is working (installable media). o Start update tests. o Start performance and regression tests. o Start system test. o Continue install and functional tests. o Continue tests of new/updated device drivers. For the next Beta-Release we are targetting these actions and milestones: o Milestone: All SLE11-SP4 features have been functionally tested. o Milestone: All new/updated device drivers have been tested. o Continue update, performance and regression tests. o Continue system test. o Start first stress and certification tests. And beware, CDN might sometime reports 404 error when downloading an image, depending where you are on the globe.
