In-Reply-To: <20150625170906.GB5003@suse.de> References: <20150625170906.GB5003@suse.de> Message-ID: <5590F3EA.9050901@oce.com> Hi Stefan, thx a lot for the update to GMC2. We did a rollout to our quality assurance of the GMC after release as we wanted to have as many systems in the test as possible, so we have at least 15 systems on GMC (with the logging kernel). I want to update these systems to the new kernel now. Is it planned to release the GMC2 kernel to the update channel, or is it possible to update the kernel by using the GMC2 DVD? Please advise, as it is not possible to reinstall all of the systems with GMC2. You should be able to simply do a zypper up. We have removed all packages from the update channels (except some update-test-* packages which will follow soon). The -Pool channel contains the correct kernel, and it should get installed then from that one. As we did not change anything else, you do not need to do a complete re-installation. thanks, Stefan > Please advise, as it is not possible to reinstall all of the systems > with GMC2. > > Thx a lot & Best Regards > Klaus > > > Am 25.06.2015 um 19:09 schrieb Stefan Behlert: >> !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >> !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! SUSE CONFIDENTIAL !! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dear all, we know you are all eager waiting for the announcement of the GoldMaster. Unfortunately shortly before the decision to rename GMC2 to GM, an issue on SLED was detected (bug 936655, "System fails to boot up whith FCoE in special cases") that we regarded to be severe enough to create another GMC to enhance the SP4 experience. Please note this bug does NOT affect SLED 11 SP4 GMC2 but we had to rebuild SLED images due to one modified package (open-fcoe, shipped in the installer, which is shared between SLED and SLES). This means an SLED 11 SP4 GMC2 installed system and a SLED 11 SP4 GMC3 installed system will be identical. No reinstallation of GMC2 SLED is needed. Only the base products were affected, we didn't had to touch the SDK. To avoid confusions we have just renamed the SDK images to 'GMC3', but they are identical to the GMC2 SDK images. You do not need to download new SDK images them if you have already the GMC2 images for it. The ISO images are available from download.novell.com and the usual locations. We offer 3 DVD ISOs: DVD1 contains the binaries, the second DVD the sources and the third DVD the debuginfo packages. The final product will not contain the debuginfo packages on the media. Please verify the sha256sum of the ISO using the SHA256SUMS file, which can be found in the same directory on the download servers.
