Of course this isn't he idea behind a supported migration from LEAP to SLES.

The goal if this is to enable users running a community Linux to move to
an enterprise Linux.

Think about a small shop, not having interest in enterprise. Or even big
shops believing not needing support or committed maintenance.

The small shop might grow, any downtime isn't an option anymore. The big
shop might find that having a support partner is a benefit (yes, the
recent security challenges helped to make customers rethink some).

It also is an interesting part for some development, when it is
integrated into a corporate structure depending on enterprise needs (and
of course, DevOps does not make these needs go away, the opposite is
true by my view).

This is the first time this is done, so some way will be still to go.
