From jsrain at suse.cz Thu Nov 1 00:59:47 2018 From: jsrain at suse.cz (Jiri Srain) Date: Thu, 1 Nov 2018 07:59:47 +0100 Subject: [sle-beta] grub cmdline duplication In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <0dceb40e-0a8d-6e2e-6f39-50c9ee548832@suse.cz> Thanks for the logs. It seems that you put all the expected kernel parameters to the AutoYaST profile. When importing them, AutoYaST merges them with those it would propose by default. This has a valid reason (or use case): You may need specific parameters for the specific machine to operate correctly, while the AutoYaST profile is supposed to be used by multiple different machines. In your case, the solution would be to only add parameters which would not be proposed by default (which could also mean to leave the append empty). If you want to have a profile used by multiple devices, it especially does not make sense to sepcify the 'resume=' device - which can, based on the device naming scheme, be different on different hosts. On the other hand: I understand that for some use cases it can make sense to only use parameters specified in the profile - e.g. in order not to include some of the by-default proposed ones. It seems that we currently lack this option in AutoYaST. Perhaps this is something that we should address in the future - allow specifying the kernel cmdline to be used as in the profile. Perhaps this is something worth a feature request. To use SLE 12 SP4 in production you will have to wait for the availability of the Gold Master version and use the Gold Master (GM) isos! Of course any issues reported on previous milestones (like RC) which do not have a fix included in GMC or issues reported directly on GMC will be considered to be fixed by Maintenance Updates post release of the final version of SLE 12 SP4. As a reminder, you can check the schedule for SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 Service Pack 4 at[6]. == Notable changes since RC 2 - Resync with latest maintenance updates - Add missed MLX PMDs in dpdk - Preparation for gcc8 availability in toolchain module - Many nvdimm fixes added to kernel - Switch to postgresql10 == More informations SLE Beta Page[1] Release Notes[5] We are thankful for your support in trying out our beta products and we welcome your feedback. Please wait for the public availability of GM to put SLE 12 SP4 in production. The official and final release (FCS) of SLE 12 SP4 is scheduled for 12th December 2018. However, in the mean time, you can still base your evaluation on GMC and the SLE 12 SP4 Beta Registration code will only expire on the FCS date.
