Another vote for this just based on a very simple situation I've just
hit with a freshly installed Beta 3 VM:

linux:~ # ifconfig
eno167777 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:29:4C:51:57

Okay so my interface name is eno167777 ...

linux:~ # ifconfig eno167777
eno167777: error fetching interface information: Device not found

Hmm. Since I'm aware of such issues from this list (which means
potential customers may not be) I check /etc/sysconfig/network/ where I
see the interface name is not eno167777 but eno16777728

linux:~ # ls /etc/sysconfig/network/
config if-down.d ifcfg-eno16777728 ifcfg.template scripts
dhcp if-up.d ifcfg-lo providers
linux:~ # ifconfig eno16777728
eno167777 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:29:4C:51:57

So not only is eth# something simple and standard but it's also a lot
shorter!

Oh and to make things even more confusing I see in dmesg that
systemd-udevd (un)helpfully "renamed network interface eth0 to
eno16777728" ...
