If PHP et al are not going to be reinstated back into the regular SLES
ISO then I want one SLE(S) add-on ISO covering all modules not one ISO
per module (as SLEWEB suggests).
Whilst the servers I build do have network access from the start (they
PXE boot then install via AutoYaST) they don't all register against
NCC/SCC or even SMT. If I want to build a server with PHP (for example)
I want to install it with PHP not install it, then have to register it
to then install PHP. Oh and then update it so it sounds like I'll have
an additional step. Modules may be better for SUSE (forcing me to
register) but not better for me.
From the little information on modules leaking here I guess I'm not
understanding the need for them - before SLE12 there was a fixed version
of each package (sometimes two - think php and php53) on the release
media with updates online via Updates repo or download from Patch
Finder. If someone wants a (newer) version not available via media or
updates then they can build from source or turn to OBS. Is that where
modules are aimed?
